Snake Print Dress

Hello fellow fashionista! I am so excited to be sharing this snow filled post with you featuring Pink Blush!

This past Sunday, Lubbock got our first snowfall of the season! I was so excited that we got snow because I am graduating in 23 short days. Yes, I am panicking, Yes, I am freaking out. Yes, I am so sad. Yes, I am so excited. Yes, I am emotionally confused and overwhelmed. The thing I am the most excited about graduating is seeing where the real world will take me! People keep telling me to not be excited about getting a job and to stay in college forever but I could not be happier to get into the working world. Another thing I am excited about is being waaaaaay more dedicated to Courtney & Confetti than I have been the past few months. A ginormous thank you to all of you who have continued to follow my blog despite the small amount of posting that I have been doing since September! I hate when people make excuses but I have truly had no time. You are thinking, “Well girl, then make some time!”, no really… there has been no time.

Transitioning into what this post was supposed to be about until I started rambling- snake print! This specific snake print is one of my favorite prints for winter because it is adds all of my staple winter colors (white, black, grey), into one!

This Kate Spade bag is my ultimate favorite but it is actually a much darker color than this set of pictures shows. The snow made this bag brighten up! Just like my heart did (ha cheeeeeeesy).

Ok so on a very serious note- my new obsession is knee high boots. I got this specific pair from DSW and now have them in this, and this variation and have this, and this variation on my wish list. Did I mention that they are $50? You read that correctly, $50.

Be looking out at the beginning of next week to see all the Black Friday deals from my favorite stores! I go shopping every Black Friday and always find the best stuff!

Seeing Red Plaid

Plaid is one of my favorite fall staples. It took me awhile to get into the plaid crave but once you go plaid, you don’t go back. My favorite variations of plaid have a variety of blue and red (much like this top from Conversation Pieces), but I also love a navy and green mix. Darker plaid gives off a relaxed look, while red and brighter colors are easy to dress up!

Combat boots are another thing that took me awhile to get into. I felt like I had absolutely no business wearing combat boots for the longest time, and then I finally bought a pair and I have not been able to get them off my feet ever since. I now have a black leather pair (pictured), a black suede pair, and a camel pair. Anything combat style (shoes, jackets, accessories, you name it….) is super relaxed. If you have been following Courtney & Confetti for awhile now then you know that I am all about simple, easy and casual.

Don’t get me wrong, I love to dress up. Heels, dress, lipstick= my favorite ensemble. I am typically running from place to place from 6am to 8pm though and a lot of shoes and clothes are not made for walking.

Happy almost Halloween! I hope you have a safe and fun weekend!

And here are a few wind blown hair bloopers! That’s the Lubbock weather for ya. Cannot say I won’t miss it!

Cream & Camo

To put it lightly; camo is my new obsession. Why you ask? This honestly goes back to my last post, Happy in a Hoodie, and how perfect green is for fall. Before I go on a rant, I will let you go ahead and read about about my green obsession there.

Moving on… This past weekend I checked off one of the many items on my “fall checklist”. I finaaaaaally went to the apple orchard in Idalou, Texas! Idalou is a small little city about 25 miles Northwest of Lubbock and it is home to Home Apple Country Orchards. For those of you have never been to an apple orchard before (as I had not), you are in for way more than you planned. The place had toooooons of apples. Tons. I had so much fun walking around with my man (he refuses to let me feature him on here!) and pulling along our little apple wagon. It was such a fun afternoon!

As I have told you many of times, the weather in Lubbock is weird. When I first moved to Lubbock for school in the Fall of 2010 I had no idea what I was getting myself into. A high of 80 and a low of 40 all in the same day? How does a girl survive in those types of crazy weather changes? Layers. Layers, layers, layers. I have gotten really good at keeping a jacket with me at all times and wearing something less heavy as my base piece. You have to in a place like Lubbock!

The key to layering is to make sure that your base item is not too chunky! Something chunky under a jacket (or any top layer), is the recipe for how to look like a marshmallow. If that is the look you are going for- no offense! This look does not look too flattering on myself however.

This basic sweater from Conversation Pieces is the perfect piece to layer with. It gives off a knit look and is not too thick but still manages to keep you warm! If I could design a sweater to layer with, boo yah, this is it!

Layering is one of my favorite parts of colder weather because it makes the outfit opportunities endless, and also lets you play with the same pieces in your closet over and over again! Now go see what you can mix and match with!
