Cream & Camo

To put it lightly; camo is my new obsession. Why you ask? This honestly goes back to my last post, Happy in a Hoodie, and how perfect green is for fall. Before I go on a rant, I will let you go ahead and read about about my green obsession there.

Moving on… This past weekend I checked off one of the many items on my “fall checklist”. I finaaaaaally went to the apple orchard in Idalou, Texas! Idalou is a small little city about 25 miles Northwest of Lubbock and it is home to Home Apple Country Orchards. For those of you have never been to an apple orchard before (as I had not), you are in for way more than you planned. The place had toooooons of apples. Tons. I had so much fun walking around with my man (he refuses to let me feature him on here!) and pulling along our little apple wagon. It was such a fun afternoon!

As I have told you many of times, the weather in Lubbock is weird. When I first moved to Lubbock for school in the Fall of 2010 I had no idea what I was getting myself into. A high of 80 and a low of 40 all in the same day? How does a girl survive in those types of crazy weather changes? Layers. Layers, layers, layers. I have gotten really good at keeping a jacket with me at all times and wearing something less heavy as my base piece. You have to in a place like Lubbock!

The key to layering is to make sure that your base item is not too chunky! Something chunky under a jacket (or any top layer), is the recipe for how to look like a marshmallow. If that is the look you are going for- no offense! This look does not look too flattering on myself however.

This basic sweater from Conversation Pieces is the perfect piece to layer with. It gives off a knit look and is not too thick but still manages to keep you warm! If I could design a sweater to layer with, boo yah, this is it!

Layering is one of my favorite parts of colder weather because it makes the outfit opportunities endless, and also lets you play with the same pieces in your closet over and over again! Now go see what you can mix and match with!

Happy in a Hoodie

Happy Tuesday! In honor of the beginning of the week (I know how it goes sometimes), I had to share my new favorite casual hoodie with you. The light-weight material and fall trending color that makes up this amaze hoodie is perfect for the season! I wore this hoodie to a casual breakfast and got multiple compliments on it!

Dark green is one of my favorite colors for fall and winter, it truly does compliment any skin tone or hair color! Not to mention that two of my favorite shopping destinations, Nordstrom and Lulu*s, have some of the cutest green items right now!

Green is also perfect to mix and match with. It can really go with almost any fall color; navy, maroon, cream, black, grey, pink, red… you get my point.

I have recently been on the hunt for the perfect hunter green booties so if you find them, please e-mail the link to me! You will seriously be my new best friend, I have been hunting and hunting for a cute pair. I told myself that I need to cut down on the shoe buying, I have a bad habit of buying shoes that I never wear… but this will be my one exception!

I hope you have a fabulous week and that something exciting comes your way!

Finally Sweater Weather

Hello, fab friend! I am so excited to be sharing my first fall post with you! This weekend I went to Fredericksburg, Texas and was soaking in the fall weather. The days were not too hot and the nights were just perfect for a sweater and booties (my fave)!

If you have never been to Fredericksburg, it is an absolute must! The town is so cute and quiet and the perfect getaway from reality. I had horrible cell service the majority of the time that I was there and it was the perfect reason to unplug from the world. Besides wineries Fredericksburg has a ton of great food, the funnest little shops to browse in, a peach orchard, lavender fields, and so much outdoor exploring. I decided that I am retiring there!

I am now back in Lubbock and we are looking at the mid 80s all week, I wish it would get cold! We had over 2 weeks of straight rain the last few weeks and it made it much cooler but now we are back to normal temps. Everything was flooding around Lubbock, it was absolutely nuts! I love the rain but it got a little bit crazy up here.

Honestly, besides the fashion (of course) my favorite part of fall is football! Maybe it is having an excuse to sit in front of the TV for hours, aimlessly wasting time or just having an excuse to relax… either way, I am in! Not to mention who does not like a reason to order pizza on Saturday or Sunday?

There is really nothing better than being in good company with good food! Sometimes life gets super crazy and we get so revolved around work and life stuff (I am very guilty of this), and we just need to relax and put all responsibilities aside. I have been working on more “me” time lately and it truly does make a difference in my day. Even if it is something as short as going and getting a polish change on your nails at your local salon, or taking the long way home so you can finish your favorite song in the car, do not forget to make time for yourself! You will go crazy otherwise.
